What to expect as a patient

Patient information at Alexis Aesthetics

This page explains what to expect when you enquire about treatment at Alexis Aesthetics from the first message through to review. The aim is for you to feel clear about each step including consultation suitability checks consent and aftercare before you decide to go ahead.

Before you book

You can contact the clinic by email online form or phone to outline your main concerns and the type of treatment you are considering. In some cases a brief photo or short description may be requested in advance so that your practitioner has context before you meet. If it sounds as though a different type of support would be more appropriate this will be explained early so that you do not spend time or money on a consultation that is unlikely to help.

Your first consultation

Consultations are usually face to face and are focused on understanding what you hope to change and how you want to feel afterwards. The practitioner will look at your face at rest and in movement and examine your skin in good light. You will have time to talk through any previous treatments and what you liked or did not like about them if relevant.

For clients with melanin rich skin or a history of pigmentation or scarring particular attention is paid to how the skin typically reacts so that treatment choices and aftercare can be adapted accordingly.

Medical history and suitability

A detailed medical history is taken for all injectable treatments. This includes questions about any illnesses allergies medications supplements and previous procedures. It is important to share information as fully as you can so that risks can be assessed properly.

Not everyone who requests a treatment will be suitable to receive it on the day or at all. There are medical reasons lifestyle factors and expectation related reasons why treatment may be postponed or not recommended. If that is the case this will be explained honestly together with any safer alternatives where appropriate.

Consent photographs and records

If treatment is appropriate and you decide to proceed you will be taken through a consent process. This includes written information about the treatment the products used possible benefits and known risks so that you can ask questions and take time to consider your decision.

Baseline photographs are usually taken before treatment and stored securely as part of your clinical record. These help with planning and allow you and the practitioner to review results fairly at follow up. Images used for teaching or marketing are only shared with your explicit written consent and are anonymised or cropped in line with what has been agreed.

On the day of treatment

Treatment is usually carried out in the same appointment as your consultation but only if there is enough time to go through everything properly and you feel ready. The skin is cleaned and in some cases numbing cream is applied. Injection points may be marked so that placement and symmetry can be checked from several angles before starting.

Your practitioner will talk you through what is happening as you go and will check in with you about comfort levels. You can pause or stop treatment at any point if you feel unsure.

Aftercare and follow up

At the end of your appointment you will receive written aftercare instructions tailored to the treatment you have had. These will usually include guidance on exercise heat pressure make up and skincare immediately after treatment and over the following days as well as signs to watch for that mean you should contact the clinic.

A review appointment may be booked especially for treatments like anti wrinkle injections dermal fillers and skin boosters where the full result develops over time. This gives an opportunity to assess the outcome together and decide whether any adjustments are needed or whether it is better to wait until your next planned visit.

Out of hours concerns and emergencies

Alexis Aesthetics is not an emergency service. If you ever feel that you or someone else is at immediate risk you should contact the emergency services or attend your nearest emergency department. For urgent concerns related to treatment, such as severe pain unusual colour changes or signs of infection, you will be given instructions on how to contact the clinic or on call practitioner as part of your aftercare information.
